Learn Tajwid by Following its Rules

To study Tajwid, one first needs to learn, understand and apply its rules while reciting the noble Quran. The practical rule setter of the Tajweed rules is the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), as Allah Almighty (SWT) revealed the holy Quran to him.  Tajweed knowledge depends on the following four factors:
  • Being aware of the letter's articulation points
  • Understanding the characteristics of the letters
  • Understanding how letter order affects the rules that apply to the letters
  • Tongue exercises and a lot of repetition???????

Tajweed Rules

Tajwid rules are classified as follows:
  1. Noon and Meem Mushaddad

It is a basic Tajweed rule that only applies to two letters. If the noon or meem have shaddah, then it is pronounced with two beats Ghunnah. The same rule applies when stopping on a letter. Here you only need to extend the sound of Gunnah, not the letter.
  1. Al-Qalqalah

It means 'echoing,' and it is used to create a vibration sound at the end of the letters Qaaf, Tata, Baa, Jiim or Daal (when it is Saakin) with sukoon or shaddah. It differentiates the letters of similar sounds when one stops on them.
  1. Tanween and Noon Saakinah Rules

Noon Saakinah is defined as noon without a Harakah or with a Sukoon. Tanween is a Noon Saakinah at the end of the nouns and is pronounced Noon Saakinah without writing noon.???????
  1. Meem Saakinah Rules

Meem Saakin is the meem with a Sukoon sign or without a Harakah.

Rules of Meem Saakinah

  • Ikhfaa Shafawi: Meem is hidden by the Baa with two lips that are not entirely in contact with 2 beats Ghunnah.
  • Idghaam Shafawi: Combining a Saakin Meem with a Mutaharrik Meem and adding two Ghunnah beats afterward.
  • Izhaar Shafawi: When Meem Saakinah is followed by a letter other than Baa & Meem, make complete contact with the two lips.???????

       5. Al-Madd Rules

Al-Madd is an Arabic for "long," Depending on its kind, it can take two to six beats to lengthen the Madd letters.

Madd letters

  1. Leen letters both come before the letter with a Fathah
  • Yaa Saakinah
  • Waaw Saakinah
       b. Each Huroof Maddiyyah is preceded by a letter with a likely haraka
  • Alif saakinah preceded by a Fathah
  • Waaw Saakinah preceded by a Dhammah
  • Yaa Saakinah preceded by a Kasrah.???????
